Siting Board Members

About the Board

The New York State Board on Electric Generation Siting and the Environment, "Siting Board", shall be in the Department of Public Service and consist of seven persons:

  • the Chair of the Department of Public Service (DPS), who shall serve as Chair of the Siting Board;
  • the Commissioner of the Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC);
  • the Commissioner of the Department of Health (DOH);
  • the Chair of the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA);
  • the Commissioner of Economic Development (Empire State Development)
  • and two ad hoc public members, both of whom shall reside within the municipality in which the facility is proposed to be located, except if such facility is proposed to be located within the City of New York, then all ad hoc members shall reside within the community district in which the facility is proposed to be located.
    • One ad hoc member shall be appointed by the President Pro Tem of the Senate and one ad hoc member shall be appointed by the Speaker of the Assembly, in accordance with Public Service Law Section 161 (2). The term of the ad hoc public members shall continue until a final determination is made in the particular proceeding for which they were appointed. The ad hoc appointees shall receive the sum of two hundred dollars for each day in which they are actually engaged in the performance of their duties pursuant to this article plus actual and necessary expenses incurred by them in the performance of such duties.

 

Board Members
