An investigation has been opened into the allegations set forth in a complaint (Complaint) filed on May 21, 2026, by more than 25 customers of the Village of Bergen Electric Department. The Complaint alleges that the Village of Bergen Electric Department (1) is operating outside of its service territory, (2) is not correctly applying the Power Purchase Adjustment Cost across the Service Classifications, (3) is not properly allocating the New York Power Authority hydro resource across the Service Classifications, and (4) needs to conduct a cost causation study to justify the increase in the cost of service.
To develop the record for this investigation, interested entities may provide comments and additional information relevant to the Complaint by September 21, 2026.
