A virtual public statement hearing regarding the Applicant’s proposed Project will be held before the assigned Administrative Law Judge (ALJ) as follows:

All participants in the virtual public statement hearing will be muted upon entry into the hearing. The ALJ will call upon each person who has registered to make a statement. The ALJ will continue the hearing until everyone wishing to speak has been heard or other reasonable arrangements to submit comments into the record have been made. Reasonable time limits may be established to help ensure that all those who wish to comment have an opportunity to be heard. It is requested that lengthy comments be submitted in writing and summarized for oral presentation. A verbatim transcript of the hearing will be made for inclusion in the record of this case.

Case Information
Case 25-T-0241 - Petition of Long Island Lighting Company d/b/a LIPA for a Certificate of Environmental Compatibility and Public Need, Pursuant to Article VII of the Public Service Law, for the Syosset to Oakwood Project.
Public comment is sought regarding an application filed by PSEG Long Island LLC, on behalf of and as agent for the Long Island Lighting Company d/b/a LIPA, a wholly owned subsidiary of the Long Island Power Authority (the Applicant) for a Certificate of Environmental Compatibility and Public Need (Certificate) pursuant to Article VII of the Public Service Law. If granted, the Certificate would authorize the Applicant to construct, operate, and maintain the Syosset to Oakwood Project (Project).
The Applicant proposes to install a new approximately 2.8-mile 138 kilovolt (kV) underground electric transmission line mainly within roadway rights-of-way between the Applicant’s existing 138kV tap located in the Town of Oyster Bay, Nassau County (Woodbury Tap) and the Applicant’s existing 138 kV substation located in the Town of Huntington, Suffolk County (Oakwood Substation); new riser and transmission poles at Woodbury Tap; and new facilities at Oakwood Substation on property to the north of the current substation facilities.
The Applicant also proposes modifications to portions of existing Lines 138-675 and 138-676 located between Woodbury Tap and Oakwood Substation. The Project is located within the Town of Oyster Bay, Nassau County and the Town of Huntington, Suffolk County. Full details are outlined in the application.
Under New York State Law, the Public Service Commission (Commission) may adopt or reject the Applicant’s proposal, in whole or part, or modify it. In doing so, the Commission will consider, among other things, comments from the participating parties and the public.
