Empire Offshore Wind 2 Transmission Project
Empire Offshore Wind LLC has filed an application for a Certificate of Environmental Compatibility and Public Need regarding the Empire Offshore Wind 2 (EOW2) project. The proposed EOW2 Project will connect an offshore wind farm to New York’s power grid and includes the construction, operation, and maintenance of approximately 12 miles of electric transmission lines from the boundary of New York State waters to a point of interconnection in the Town of Hempstead, Nassau County, New York.
The New York State Public Service Commission will hold virtual public statement hearings to seek input and comments regarding the application for the Empire Wind 2 Project. Prior to the hearings, the Commission will hold virtual information sessions where interested parties will be able to ask questions regarding the case review process and the application before the Commission.

Public comment is sought regarding the request by Empire Offshore Wind LLC to construct, operate and maintain transmission facilities to connect an offshore wind farm to New York’s power grid. The proposed Empire Offshore Wind 2 Project includes the construction, operation, and maintenance of approximately 12 miles of electric transmission lines from the boundary of New York State waters to a point of interconnection in the Town of Hempstead, Nassau County, New York.
The virtual public statement hearings will be held on Thursday, March 9, 2023, at 1:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. Any person wishing to provide a public statement on the record at the hearings must pre-register in advance of the hearing by 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 7, 2023.
Those wishing to comment on any aspect of this proceeding will have the opportunity to make a statement on the record at the virtual public statement hearings.
