On October 30, 2025, New York State Electric & Gas Corporation (NYSEG) filed an application pursuant to Public Service Law Article VII (Application) for a Certificate of Environmental Compatibility and Public Need seeking authorization for the proposed rebuild of approximately 18 miles of an existing 115 kilovolt transmission line beginning at the South Perry Substation in the Town of Castile in Wyoming County and running southeast to the Meyer Substation in the Town of North Dansville in Livingston County (the Project). The Project location is detailed in Exhibit 2 of the Application and associated figures.
NYSEG may need to acquire additional temporary or permanent property rights for the Project to: (i) allow for the off-right-of-way (ROW) access of construction vehicles and equipment during construction; (ii) facilitate the storage of materials, equipment, vehicles, job trailers, and other similar uses (e.g., staging areas, laydown yards, and marshalling yards); (iii) enhance NYSEG’s rights on existing ROW (including the permanent removal of structures there from); and (iv) acquire additional rights outside of the existing ROW to selectively remove trees if they pose a risk. Full details of the proposed Project are outlined in the application. Under New York State Law, the Public Service Commission (Commission) may adopt or reject NYSEG’s proposal, in whole or in part, or modify it. In doing so, the Commission will consider input from those participating in this proceeding and the public.
