The NYS Department of Public Service Staff is in direct contact with Holtec, the owner of Indian Point, and Enbridge, the owner of the Algonquin pipelines in the vicinity of Indian Point. Both companies are continuing to assess their facilities in response to the earthquake. Preliminary on-site assessments have not identified anomalies and at this time there are no safety concerns on site or to the broader community. Additional updates will be provided as necessary. As of October 16, 2023, all spent fuel is stored in safer, seismically-tested dry cask storage. With all 3,998 spent fuel assemblies now contained within 127 reinforced concrete and steel casks on the site’s independent spent fuel storage installations, the risk profile at Indian Point is significantly reduced.
